Gwen is the principal of Bowen & Co Solicitors, which was established in April 2005 in the town of Sixmilebridge, County Clare.
Gwen attended UCC, graduated in 1991 and qualified as a solicitor through Blackhall Place in 1994. Before setting up in Sixmilebridge in 2005 she practiced in Waterford and Limerick City, and headed up the Probate Department of a large firm in Limerick City for a number of years.
Gwen undertook a Diploma in Trust and Estate Planning in April 2004 and has a huge interest in the area of Trust and Estate Planning and Probate disputes. She also qualified as a mediator through the Mediation Institute in 2007. She is a member of the Probate, Administration and Trusts Committee of the Law Society of Ireland.
Since opening, Bowen & Co has developed into a thriving general practice dealing with all aspects of legal practice that individuals encounter on a day-to-day basis. Given the size of the firm, there are some matters that we do not deal with but, if this is the case, we can refer you to those we trust would be best suited to your needs.
Gwen has many years of experience in conveyancing and a thorough knowledge of concerns affecting the agricultural sector, commercial leases and the purchase and sale of houses. She also has a keen awareness of taxation concerns on the purchase and sale of property and on inheritance.
Gwen has strong understanding of the agricultural sector’s particular needs and in 2011 she developed and presented a Fetac Level 9 module for LIT attended by members of the Agricultural Consultants Association dealing exclusively with legal matters concerning the agricultural sector.
In the last few years, Gwen has become a regular panellist at Clare FM, where she has given her insights into Probate issues and conveyancing matters, and she has also provided her legal expertise as a guest on the Claire Byrne show. Most important to Gwen, however, is to ensure that the next generation of solicitors are as enthused and well-informed about their profession as she is and, to that end, she has lectured in the Limerick Institute of Technology (now the Technological University of the Shannon) and for the Law Society of Ireland and she has been a key-note speaker at conferences on end-of-life issues, Estate planning and Succession.
